Animals create wonderful shapes for painting opportunities in the landscape. This little steer was a "very good friend" of a well-known bull (Mr T) at Hollister Ranch near Santa Barbara, CA. Hollister is a little slice of heaven whether you are a person or a steer. The beauty of the natural cherry wood kept me from defining the background any further.
About Lynee Sapere
Lynee Sapere is an award winning painter whose artwork is featured in galleries and shows in California, Washington and Oregon. Her current work is primarily in oils and acrylics employing contrasting textures and luminosity, often juxtaposing thick palette knife passages with thin washes reminiscent of her roots as a transparent watercolorist. The subjects often include figures and people recreating as well as iconic West Coast scenery. Lynee is fascinated by abstractions and enhancing color while also embracing order, design and realism.
