The incredible wood grain of this live-edge plank of natural sycamore provided a perfect back drop of natural beauty to show off these two natural beauties, a mare and her foal. I used copper leaf on the sunlit portions of the horses backs to punch out the light.
Lynee Sapere is an award winning painter whose artwork is featured in galleries and shows in California, Washington and Oregon. Her current work is primarily in oils and acrylics employing contrasting textures and luminosity, often juxtaposing thick palette knife passages with thin washes reminiscent of her roots as a transparent watercolorist. The subjects often include figures and people recreating as well as iconic West Coast scenery. Lynee is fascinated by abstractions and enhancing color while also embracing order, design and realism.
